Last week’s TASBOFestwas, by all measures, a success.  Everyone will tell you that the event in Austin was well coordinated. I ,for one, enjoyed catching up with old friends and making new ones. Yes, becoming a regular presenter for TASBO is now on my bucket list!

This year, McConnell & Jones LLP, was pleased to present, “What is an Audit?  Different Types of Audits Performed at Your School.” Our presentation team included fraud specialist, Gilbert Hopkins, internal audit expert, Darlene Brown, and me, a financial auditor.  Our goal was educate attendees on the different types of audit engagements used by district administrators such as financial audits which ensure reporting compliance, fraud/forensic audits to help catch the misuse of funds, performance audits which examine efficiency of departmental functions, and finally the internal audit which provides assurance that an organization’s internal processes are operating efficiently.

It was great to receive such positive feedback from the sessions. I could almost see my style of entertainment being picked up on 6th street….almost! If you missed our session, a copy of the presentation can be downloaded here. I always look forward to the TASBO events;thank you again #TASBO17!  Looking forward to seeing everyone again in Galveston at the Summer Conference.
