What's New This Year and the Moves to Make Before December 31
Wednesday, November 18, 2026 | 5:15 – 6:15 PM EST

Speaker(s):

Tenesha Hartgrove, CPA, EA, PFS, CFP® | Partner, Tax Practice, McConnell Jones

Khalid Elshaikh, CPA | Tax Experienced Staff, McConnell Jones

2026 is the first full tax year under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Tax rates are now permanent, and several deductions, limits and phase-outs have changed. Some new deductions are available without itemizing, and the rules for charitable giving are different this year. These changes make year-end planning more important than usual for individuals, families and business owners.

In this webinar session, McConnell Jones tax professionals Tenesha Hartgrove and Khalid Elshaikh will cover what changed, which numbers matter most and what to do before December 31. Topics include higher SALT deductions and retirement contribution limits, new charitable giving rules, deductions for tips, overtime, car loan interest and seniors, as well as year-end steps for business owners. You’ll leave with a clear checklist and the key deadlines through April 2027.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the key 2026 tax changes under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, including permanent rates, higher standard deductions and the $40,400 SALT cap.

  • Evaluate charitable giving strategies under the new rules, including bunching, gifts of appreciated stock, QCDs and the new deduction for people who don’t itemize.
  • Recognize how income phase-outs affect eligibility for new deductions and how to manage taxable income before year-end.
