More than 15 auditors from McConnell & Jones’ ERISA assurance compliance team will attend the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Employee Benefit Plan Conference. The annual event, which covers accounting, auditing and regulatory updates affecting employee benefit plans, will be held May 8 – 10 in Nashville, TN.
MJ’s dedicated team of employee benefit plan auditors will attend virtual and in-class presentations detailing recent and proposed legislative changes and regulatory issues impacting defined benefit, defined contribution, pension, and health and welfare plans.
“Attending this annual conference is an essential part of our team’s culture,” said ERISA compliance and assurance partner, Eric Ernest, CPA. “Our high level of participation underscores the dedication we have to our practice niche and provides an opportunity to bring valuable and relevant information back to share with our clients.”
Senior manager, Sharjeel Ahsan, CPA,MBA, was selected to moderate four different sessions at the conference. Additionally, Director, Michelle Brumfield, CPA, is slated to present two sessions at the conference, “Limited Scope Audits” and “Reviewing a Form 5500 From an Auditor’s Perspective”. Brumfield, who is a member of the AICPA Women’s Initiative Executive Committee’s Champion Task Force, will also moderate three different sessions.
“Attending the annual AICPA EBP conference is a great way for our team to stay current on changes within our industry and exchange ideas for best practices,” said Nadia Cruz, audit supervisor. “This will be my second year attending the event and each year our team seems to attend in greater numbers and gets more involved with the activities of the Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center (EBPAQC).”
