McConnell & Jones’ governmental and nonprofit assurance Partner, Marlon Williams, will serve as a community advisor on the Dallas Independent School District’s (DISD) Audit Committee starting this fall. The one year term provides Williams with opportunity to engage with DISD board trustees in open dialogue on financial reporting, internal audit compliance issues, and offer suggestions to assist the financial accountability of the District. The District utilizes this non-voting role to improve the overall effectiveness of the Audit Committee.
Williams, who has more than 20 years of assurance experience, will offer DISD a wealth of specialized knowledge having partnered with many ISDs, charter school districts, community colleges, and other educational institutions on their audit engagements and consulting projects.
Williams is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Texas Society of CPAs, the Government Finance Officers Association of Texas, and is a Certified Data Analyst. He is published extensively, and presented topics at several industry specific conferences, including the Texas Association of School Board Officials and the Texas Association of Black School Educators.
