McConnell & Jones CPAs Announces Volunteer Partnership with Boys and Girls Clubs of America

McConnell & Jones LLP (MJ) is teaming up with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) to support youth in our local communities to ensure kids have fun, and can participate in programming that emphasizes academic success, good character and active lifestyles.  MJ’s partnership with BGCA seeks to create a stronger generation of future leaders by providing hands on support to local clubs that will inspire and enable club members to reach their full potential.

Every day, there are 11 million kids that leave school and don’t have anywhere to go. This time spent out-of-school, without the guidance of caring adults and access to engaging learning opportunities, can leave kids with few positive influences.

MJ believes that every child deserves a great future and is proud to align with BGCA Clubs in Houston, Dallas, and Austin, Texas as well as Washington D.C. The partnership between MJ and BCGA establishes long-term opportunities for MJ associates to volunteer their time and launches the first firm-wide giving program to support local Clubs.

Starting July 16th and running through August 2nd, MJ employees will participate in the first annual School Supply Drive benefiting local BGCA Clubs in Houston, Dallas, Austin, and Washington DC.  Additional future giving and volunteer activities planned include an annual firm-wide day of giving, holiday toy drives, mentoring, and job shadowing programs.

“We believe that all kids deserve a chance to succeed, which is why we’re thrilled to be aligned with Boys & Girls Clubs and kick off the partnership with a ‘back to school’ campaign that will benefit local Clubs,” said Odysseus Lanier, partner of McConnell & Jones. “Boys & Girls Clubs of America has enabled young people who are in need to achieve great futures as productive, caring, responsible citizens. We are proud to be a premier partner with this organization.”

Today, BGCA serves 4.73 million young people ages 6 to 17, through membership and community outreach, at 4,645 Clubs throughout the country and on U.S. military installations worldwide. They provide a safe place, caring adult mentors, fun, friendship and high-impact youth development programs on a daily basis during critical non-school hours.

“Our collaboration with McConnell & Jones will make a tremendous impact on members,” stated Kevin Hattery, president and CEO of Boys and Girls Club of Greater Houston. “We look forward to the invaluable mentorship and encouragement their team will provide our youth.”
