McConnell Jones, an audit, tax and consulting firm, has earned recognition by being named one of the top 25 CPA firms in Houston in the Houston Business Journal annual list of firms. Founded more than 30 years ago, the firm serves various public, private and governmental agencies from five offices across the country
“From our beginnings at my kitchen table, we feel so blessed to have achieved the notoriety of being named to this prestigious list,” said Managing Partner Ira Wayne McConnell. “I have to give the credit to our clients, our partner group, and all our staff who have been working tirelessly for their clients since the inception of the firm,” he added.
McConnell Jones has achieved significant professional reputation in Houston and across the country for its tax, audit and consulting work, including working with the majority of the branches of the US Armed Services; being in the top 1% of CPA firms providing Employee Benefit Plan audits; providing audit services to the District of Colombia; and working with municipalities and school districts across the US. The firm has been cited as one of the top three African American owned CPA firms in the country.
“Not only is our leadership group one of the most diverse in public accounting, but we pride ourselves on the fact that the majority of our professional staff are either first generation Americans or members or a minority group. We have discovered that our cultural diversity provides better solutions and insights for our clients, as we’ve refined the art of listening to varying opinions and experiences, which enhances our ability to collaborate with each other and with our clients,” McConnell added.
In addition to audit, tax, internal audit, and business process improvement services, the firm is launching a Diversity & Inclusion client solution for companies and organizations who want to better lever the strength of a diverse work force. While research indicates more diverse companies have better financial performance, the firm believes the real value is the human element.
