McConnell & Jones is excited to announce the appointment of Michelle Brumfield, CPA as Audit Director. In her new position, Brumfield will direct the firm’s ERISA Assurance and Compliance Services Sector where she will be responsible for managing numerous employee benefit plan audits and consulting with plan sponsors as well as with third party administrators.

Brumfield has more than 20 years experience in auditing and related assurance services for all types of employee benefit retirement and welfare plans for both publicly-held and privately-owned plan sponsors as well as public and municipal pension plan sponsors. She has planned and supervised numerous employee benefit plan audits, including defined contribution (savings, ESOP and 403(b)) plans, defined benefit (traditional pension and cash balance) plans, health and welfare plans with a section 401(h) arrangement, and master trust investment accounts.
A specialist in employee benefit plan accounting, auditing, legislative, and regulatory issues to include SEC and DOL rules and regulations, Brumfield is a registered CPA in the State of Texas, and is a cum laude graduate with a bachelor’s degree in commerce major in accounting from the Immaculate Conception College–La Salle in the Philippines. She is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Texas Society of CPAs as well as the Houston Society of CPAs. She is also the firm administrator for the AICPA Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center.
