McConnell & Jones LLP, a leader in providing audit and assurance services to the public sector, is proud to announce the recent hire of Micah Clinger as Audit Director in the firm’s Dallas office. In his new position, Clinger is responsible for directing MJ’s assurance engagements across the firm’s public sector and nonprofit service niches.
A Certified Public Accountant, Clinger has more than 13 years of experience in financial statement and single audits as well as advisory services to governmental entities including state, county and city governments as well as higher education institutions, public school districts, and other not-for-profit organizations. He is highly skilled in identifying improvements in internal controls over financial reporting and determining enhancements to improve operating efficiencies. Clinger has a strong understanding of GASB standards as well as the requirements under Uniform Grant Guidance and has performed assurance and advisory engagements for large-scale entities including the City of Portland, Oregon; Chicago Public Schools; Idaho University System; and the Texas Association of School Boards.

Clinger is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Government Finance Officer Association of Texas where has participated in GFOA’s Special Review Committee for the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program. A graduate of Idaho State University, Clinger holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting.
