Renee Metzler, PHR

Ms. Metzler has over 30 years of experience in benefits and human resources, the past 20 years at Piedmont Natural Gas/Duke Energy. In her current role she has responsibility for the design and administration of Duke Energy’s retirement, health & insurance and compensation plans and programs. Ms. Metzler has designed, implemented and managed a broad spectrum of employee benefits and compensation plans. Ms. Metzler holds a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Mary Washington. She was also a founding Board member of the North Carolina Business Group on Health (NCBGH) and is currently a Citizen Trustee for the Charlotte Firefighters Retirement System.

John Eshleman is the Director of Benefits for Memorial Hermann Health System, a 28,000 employee not-for-profit health system in Houston, Texas. He has over 20 years’ experience in employee benefits, both in consulting and corporate benefits. He oversees all health and welfare, retirement, leave and time-off programs and was instrumental in bringing a Student Loan Repayment Program, a powerful tool for recruiting and retention, to the suite of benefits that Memorial Hermann offers its’ employees. John holds the CEBS, SHRM-SCP, and SPHR designations. He currently serves on the Governing Council for the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (ISCEBS) and is a past-president of the Houston Chapter of ISCEBS. A native Texan, John received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Houston and is currently pursuing a MBA from Prairie View A&M University. He is a theatre and baseball fan and enjoys travelling with his family.

 

 

Connie Foland, MS, ARM, CPCU

Connie Foland, MS, ARM, CPCU is the Director of Human Resources, Risk Management and Education and Training at Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. She has been employed at The Blood Center for twenty-four years and has been in the health care industry for over 30 years. As one of the few Risk Management professionals employed in the blood banking industry, she has served on various industry committees and as a speaker at educational events. The Blood Center employs approximately 650 employees in the Texas Gulf Coast Region. Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is the only blood provider to Houston and its surrounding communities 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is one of the largest community blood centers in the United States, serving 26 counties across the Texas Gulf Coast, Brazos Valley and East Texas, and serves more than 170 hospitals and health care institutions.
